In the last decade of the last century Paul Madore and Mike Heath teamed up to defeat homosexual rights in Maine. They did so using the referendum.

Twice in statewide voting the men defeated the idea that “sexual orientation” should be added to the list of legal minority designations in Maine’s anti-discrimination statute.

They were outspent by more than ten to one. All of the media opposed them.  They won anyway.  They won because Maine people supported their campaigning … their political arguments.

Combined the two fathers have nearly fifty grandchildren.  They continue the fight for them.
